A peachy beach party for my 25th birthday!

A few weeks ago, some of my dearest friends and family members joined me at New Smyrna Beach to celebrate me turning a quarter century. It was a really fun day of boogie boarding, card games, tons of food, lazing about the 2 gigantic tents we set up, and enjoying the wonderful company! It felt amazing to welcome back the Florida summer-time sunshine surrounded by such lovely people. I had a blast and feel ultra lucky to have had help celebrating and making my birthday so special. Here is a photo of most of the gang (I am right in the middle):

As you can tell from the picture, the day was perfect as could be. In fact, we had so much fun that we are planning another similar style party for the 4th of July this year! I can't wait for more beach days in my beloved Florida :)

Can anyone help me find this dress?

It's the J. Crew cotton interlock cross-back jumper item 92674 from Spring 2008. I love the color (coral? persimmon? orange? or whatever they were calling it that season?) but haven't been able to find it anywhere! Not on eBay, not on the J. Crew Aficionada Great (Weekly) Exchange, not on the J. Crew website, not anywhere....

I really appreciate your tips, leads, offers, suggestions!

On my brain today

This is what I do when I've spent my weekly/monthly/quarterly clothing budget....Polyvore becomes my weapon of choice and I live out my outfit fantasies! It's a little bit of stuff I've got mixed with a little bit of stuff I wish I had...
The above and below sets feature the J. Crew Cotton Interlock cross-back jumper, which I'm pretty sure came out in Spring '08. I was lucky enough to snag the sour lemon (yellow) color on J. Crew's Final Sale back in March. The navy I tracked down on eBay :) What I love about the dress is that it's:
  • Perfect for spring and summertime in Florida.
  • Totally versatile. So far I've worn the navy to dinner at one of my fave restaurants. I also wore it this past week for a boat tour of Ft Lauderdale.
  • The x-back is pretty deep (think mid-back).
  • The fabric is a heavyweight cotton interlock (drapes beautifully).

Redundant much? I'm such a creature of habit :) Happy May Day everyone!

Need it, Love it, Want it, I'm GETTING it! (part 3)

This pink is killer!

Love. Love. LOVE.

Need it, Love it, Want it, I'm GETTING it! (part 2)

Sometimes blue feels golden...

This is the blue version of the Silence & Noise Ponte Cutout Back Dress and is probably exactly how I will wear it once I pick it up :)

Need it, Love it, Want it, I'm GETTING it!

This set features the Silence & Noise Ponte Cutout Back Dress from Urban Outfitters.

Where should I wear this outfit? Haha, more like where shouldn't I wear it.

I don't have any of these items....YET. But my birthday is right around the corner, so I just might be getting myself a few (small) presents. Anyway, I saw the dress online last night and was promptly converted into a raving, salivating, die-hard fan. I'm a complete and total softie for a unique (If those back cutouts don't classify it as unique, I don't know what does!), nicely cut Ponte Knit dress. The construction of the ponte fabric is often thicker and more polished, which makes it very complementary for girls with curves (definitely me)...less clingy on the hips than a jersey fabric, more support in the bust, and it better holds the shape of the garment, etc. And the best part? The dress comes in at least 2 other colors (blue and hot pink)!!! Yippeeeee!

Are there any fabrics/shapes/styles you're crazy about, can't live without, couldn't make it through life without?

I can also see myself wearing it with the dreaded Atomic Flower Necklace (dun dun dun....)

Dare me?

from Rack to Real life (Express Zebra Print Dress)

Rack

(she's rockin it, I know!)

Real Life

It's wild, for sure! Something about it makes me feel rebellious, but not too crazy. The photo's a little blurry, but I'm sure you catch my drift....

How in the world do you make it wearable, though? I mean, who walks around in a strapless zebra print dress on a day to day basis (hehehe, me, I suppose?)

Let's say I wanted to be demure....

Do these work?

Let's say I wanted to be professional (slightly)...

Maybe on a workplace casual friday?

And finally.....

Let's say I'm meeting a friend for lunch...

Do I dare?
Would you?

Bottom line, if you see a tall girl parading around town in a strapless Zebra print dress and killer black heels at noon on a Tuesday, chances are she's me (but I'll have my jacket/cardigan/blazer of choice draped over my arm just in case) !
